ABOUT PORTLAND INDEPENDENT INSURANCE AGENT
MARK STRAUSS
If you are an individual or business let me work as your independent insurance agent and let me provide you with a risk management analysis and shop your insurance coverage with the many insurance companies that I represent. Insurance can be hard to understand and as your insurance agent of choice I am here to assist in helping you compare one policy against another and to help you make an informed insurance decision to protect your personal and business assets. As an independent insurance agent I work with financially stable and preferred independent Northwest insurance companies such as: Oregon Mutual, Liberty Northwest, Mutual of Enumclaw, Safeco Insurance and National insurance companies such as: Chubb Insurance, Fireman's Fund Insurance, One Beacon Insurance, Philadelphia Insurance, Travelers Insurance and many more.I have thought about the long-term implications of the businesses, homes and vehicles I insure. I'm dedicated to taking the time to spend a little extra money to reduce my environmental footprint as much as possible both in my personal and professional life because we live in a fragile environment, and I believe that businesses need to be progressive and add environmental and social achievements to their measures of success.
- Transportation: Ride by scooter! When the weather makes it possible I will be showing up to my appointments on my Genuine Buddy whenever possible. When the weather does not permit I'll be traveling by vehicle using the most efficient route possible and also utilize public transportation.
- Electricity: Fortunately I have an office that gets great daylight during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. During this time the lights in my office are usually not turned on. When I am going to be out of my office for appointments I turn everything off. At home my wife & I purchase 100% green power from PGE.
- Carbon Offsets: Previously I have purchased carbon offset credits from The Climate Trust on behalf of all new clients. This has been my gift to new clients in helping them take a small step to counteract the global warming implications of our lifestyles. Carbon offset credits are not the answer to climate change but they do provide a first step toward how we can reduce our emissions. Due to The Climate Trust no longer offer the option to purchase carbon offset credits I am investigating other ways to contribute back to the community.
- Paper: I operate as paperless as possible. When something is printed out you can be certain it gets used. Paper that does not get used is flipped over for re-use.
- Volunteering & Community: I participate in the community through a variety of activities. I have volunteered my time with the Portland Farmers Market and have taken the emergency response program offered by the Portland Neighborhood Emergency Team, a program that will provide me with basic training skills to work with my neighbors to save lives and property during the first 72 hours of any citywide emergency.
